R.I.P. Hugh Hefner

For some of a certain age sneaking around with a copy of your friend’s father’s Playboy was a right of passage. Later it became a spearhead for the sexual revolution that ran through America. Lately it has been labeled as misogynist and complicit  in creating rape culture. For me, Hugh Hefner was the publisher of a magazine that printed some of the best and funniest cartoons in America. Later I learned he treated his cartoonists well, compensated them fairly and gave them great play in his publication. So, yeah, I was that guy who actually DID read Playboy for the cartoons…
